Ways to Celebrate Baby’s Birthday at Home

You may have planned a huge circus-themed birthday party for your precious baby boy or girl, only to have to cancel the petting zoo and the hot dog vendor because of the pandemic. Or you may have planned a simpler event, involving decorating the house and inviting a few friends over for a playdate, and now it’s no longer a possibility. Although it may take some extra creative thinking, you can still make your baby’s birthday special during this quarantine period!

Bake Together

Now that you have a lot of time on your hands, instead of going out to the grocery store to pick up a cake, bake a cake with your baby! Although a three-month old baby may have some trouble holding a whisk, if your little one is a toddler turning two or three years old, they are more than capable of helping you bake a couple muffins, cupcakes, brownies, or cookies with you! If you’re still wary about the mess, then look up homemade ice cream recipes (that don’t require any ice cream machines).

For a really good time, film your baby baking and share the video with your family and friends, or invite them on a video call for a live baking show!

Camp Out (Or In)

Although many campgrounds are closed, that doesn’t mean your backyard or living room isn’t! Set up a tent in your backyard (or your living room if you don’t have a backyard, or if it rains). Roast some marshmallows in a fire pit, or make a s’mores casserole in your oven. If you don’t have a tent, blow up an air-mattress and pile on several blankets and sleeping bags so the whole family can snuggle up together. Don’t forget your baby’s favorite Swaddle Blanket, made with a super soft and stretchy fabric that grows with your baby!

Picnic in the Park

If the weather’s nice, consider taking a family stroll to the park and setting out a picnic blanket! Pack several snacks, sandwiches, and juice pouches. Consider bringing a soccer ball or a game of cornhole for some extra family fun. Remember to wear a face mask and practice safe social distancing if the park is crowded. If your parks are still closed to the public, then create a picnic at home, in your living room, on your patio, or in your backyard!

Dress up your baby in our Blush Gingham Collection and our Dusty Blue Gingham Collection for an extra adorable picnic-y vibe.

Video Dance Party with Family and Friends

Send out email invitations with a date and time where everyone can jump on a video call to dance to silly songs! Allow your baby or toddler to choose their favorite song to dance to, and tell your guests to cheer them on and try to mimic their moves! It’s not only young children, but also older adults who need to stand up and shake the wiggles out.

The best part is that some video apps allow you to record the video session, so you can save this special moment and rewatch it for years to come! Not every kid gets a quarantine birthday party — make this one count!

At the end of the day, you should remember that it won’t matter to your baby whether or not you threw them the party of the year or spent the morning painting together. What matters most is that you spent time with them on their special day. Aubrey Gianna’s Boutique is always here to help you find ways to connect with your baby and show them you love them. All of our clothes and accessories are designed with mama and baby in mind. Every fabric is baby-tested and baby-approved, so you can happily snuggle up with your little one every night.
